What made it extra special this year, was my best friend from college Stephanie and her family were in town. While they did Disney during the week, the weekend was to be spent with them!
We started off the weekend with a trip to Downtown Disney and dinner at the T Rex. We have taken the kids there several times, and it was on our list of restaurants to hit before we moved! We captured this picture of Nathan walking Addison to our table. It was so sweet!
After an early dinner we enjoyed visiting the Lego store, playground and the Ghiradellhi Ice Cream Parlor - a definite must before we moved. Seriously, the chocolate makes the ice cream here! The kids were able to dance with the band playing on the stage and enjoy their ice cream too! It was a beautiful evening, with fun friends!
The following day we all headed to the Ron Jon Resort near the Cape. We had gotten a wonderful deal on a two bedroom hotel room, and were excited to really get away from the boxes! As soon as we arrived we headed down to the pools for some fun! The kids enjoyed the kiddie pool, showers and lazy river immensely. It was wonderful to see them so happy, relaxed, and just being kids. The stress of the previous two months had definitely had it's wear on each of us, so our family time together was all the more precious!
That evening for dinner, we went and got our fill of seafood! Dan and Andy split a seafood platter for two - which Stephanie and I couldn't resist capturing on film! Poor Drew was so tired that we could barely wake him up for dinner!
As if we hadn't eaten enough - there was an ice cream shop next door. The owners, an Asian couple, adored the kids and gave them each Superman ice cream at their request. This lime green couch proved to be as colorful as their ice cream!
As we left on Monday morning, there was an alligator headed up to do a wildlife show. While Addison couldn't wait to hold it, my boys shyed away from the little reptile!
It was bittersweet to leave the hotel and head back to reality - the airport. Dan was off for the last trip to Colorado without us. We eased the pain by hitting Dunk 'N Donuts on the way there. YUM! By now the boys were used to saying goodbye to Daddy for another week, and enjoyed just going to the airport and seeing all of the airplanes take off. Little did they know, that our next trip there would be their turn!After a drop off at the airport we headed to Lakeland to visit friends before our move. It had been several weeks since we had visited with Poppa Carrol and Grammy Sharon, and the boys were anxious to see their new little puppy! We shared lunch with them, and several hours of chatting before we hit the road to meet up with other friends.
One of our Lakeland friends had signed on to be a Thirty One rep. with me, so we needed some face time/computer time for training. Thankfully her classroom was full of fun things for the boys to play with while we worked. We finished quickly and then enjoyed a quick visit to burn some energy at a local playground I knew of. Unbeknownst to me, they had completely redone it - and the kids had a blast! It was by far, the best park I have ever seen! I couldn't help but take pictures of all the fun things there were to do on it! There was a huge hill for the kids to roll down (which was a new skill for both boys). A tunnel thru the hill which they could run thru as well.
By far, Nathan's favorite thing was the pyramid. I hadn't really seen it yet, till I heard him shouting, "Mommy" from the top. It slightly took my breath away and scared me to death to see this little boy at the top. I refrained from yelling at him to come down, and calmly asked him to climb down carefully. He was standing next to a 10 year old boy, who even shouted to his mom,"Hey mom, look, this little kid climbed up here." I was a tiny bit proud of his skill - but moreso terrified what would happen if he fell.
After running amuck through the park for an hour, the kids finally settled on the swings. If you'll notice at my picture - they choose the furthest swings to swing on. Nathan was on the far left, Drew on the far right. They're determined to keep me in shape!
I was finally able to persuade Drew to join his brother on the big swing!
As we ended out our park playdate, and our Mother's Day never-ending weekend, Nathan brought me flowers from the park flowerbed. It was such a sweet thought, although I was slightly mortified that he had pulled flowers from a beautiful flowerbed.
Here are two of the kids Mother Day crafts that they completed at school. I absolutely loved them, and will forever keep them! Nathan's sweet little face in the picture frame he made is adorable, and Drewn's card with his handprint on it was precious. The candle holder he made sits on my stove now, and he will occasionally point at it and tell me, "I made that for you mommy." Too cute!
