We now have a birthday box, with all the party supplies for everyone's birthday. We have a blow up cake, birthday bear that sings, a birthday banner, and some garland. I'm sure over the years we'll add to the birthday box, but this was a good start. This summer Drew and I picked up the birthday bear at Hallmark just before Dan's birthday. It was a surprise - and Oh, how he loved it Now, the boys can't wait to pull it out and make it sing all day long. Thankfully, there's only 4 days a year we have to listen to it!
One of Dan's traditions was an eclair for breakfast on their birthday. While I LOVED the idea of continuing that, Dan came to the conclusion that could have been one of the factors in him getting a spanking every year on his birthday as well. He wanted a breakfast treat with slightly less sugar, so we opted for a panCAKE!
Drew's BIG present of the year was a bounce house. Since we didn't have an official party for him since we just moved here, we thought a bigger present that the boys would play with all year long would be just as good! I have been searching for one of these for months, and was so thankful to find one just weeks before his birthday.
Dan and I set it out the night before, and had a banner leading from his room down to the present. As he followed the banner downstairs he discovered the blown up bounce house. To say he was excited is an understatement. And so was big brother! They hopped in it immediately and started bouncing.
For our family day together we went bowling. The boys had enjoyed bowling with our church in Florida more than a year ago, and we were excited to take them back. We found a neat bowling alley that was open all day, and spent a fun morning bowling. The place was empty and the the kids had a great time bowling. We enjoyed a nice lunch and then went home for naps. They were both worn out flat after carrying around those bowling balls.
Grammy and Pop pop came over for dinner later that evening, and joined right into the birthday fun - in the bounce house!
Grammy had great fun taunting him with his cake. She kept smearing it on his face, and he was NOT happy about it. The rest of us thought it was quite hilarious though.
Playing with the new crash and smash hot wheels track. It was a family affair!!
