Saving Mommy

Screams of laughter fill our home on a regular basis. Whether its the boys playing with each other, or mommy or daddy tickling the boys; giggling, running around (usually in a costume), and rough housing have etched some of the best memories in my mind of life with our two little boys.

Most recently the boys have stepped in to 'save mommy mode' when daddy is picking/tickling me. It's quite hilarious to see them come running from one of the other levels in the house, just because mommy is laughing really hard. (That seems to do better for their beckoning than me screaming their name repetitively).

"Mommy, I can save you" echos throughout the house, as they race to save the day.

They don't race to save the day empty-handed. Oh no, they come armed and ready for battle. Usually it's a blankie or a towel to whip around at the evil one, aka daddy. Or, sometimes their costume serves as the means to scare away the evil one (dinosaur, tiger, pirate).

I love seeing their little warrior hearts in action. It's priceless to see the ferocious and determined looks on their little faces as they know mommy is in need of help. They come at it with such a sense of honor and pride. They know it's their job to protect and take care of me, and are willing to risk everything just to 'save the day.'
