Flood

On Sunday night when we arrived home from our Utah trip, Dan discovered a flooded basement. While we had been gone over the week - one of the pipes in the wall below had burst due to the cold weather. There was between 4-6inches of water over the entire basement. Here are some pictures of the night we discovered it. They really don't do it justice.

By Monday morning we had contacted a company to come help clean up the mess, and restore our basement back to its original condition. They came in and sorted everything, labeled and boxed the items that were salvageable and put them in storage. The non-salvageable items, which was most of the basement, is now sitting in our garage - waiting to be taken to the dump. To say, it's sickening is an understatement.

Here is the pipe to blame. Over the course of the week, it let out over 35 units of water, roughly 30 more units than we use in an entire month as a family of four.

Once all the items were cleared out of the basement, the demo crew came in and tore
out all of the drywall/insulation that was ruined. Here are some pictures of the basement
as it stands now - over 1 week later. Thankfully the 17 fans and 2 commercial humidifiers
are gone, as well as the smell!
