Truck Trip to Ohio

It's that time of year again - Fall in Ohio! We made our annual trek to Ohio this year from Colorado in Dan's truck. The boys had done so well on our car trips this summer that we decided to drive to Ohio for the week of harvest. It was also much cheaper!

As always, the boys did extremely well in the car. The first day we drove 13 hrs, and managed to only watch one movie. They love looking around at the sites, and playing in the backseat which makes for fun car trips. We stopped for lunch at McDonald's and let them play for 30 min. or so, and then filled their bellies for naptime. The both napped well and Dan and I enjoyed the peace and quiet and drive together. Long drives like that always allow for great conversation and fun dreaming and planning of our future.

After a dinner at Panera Bread we searched for our hotel just outside of St. Louis, in Illinois. As Dan went in and got our room keys Nathan began puking all over the backseat. Not good. Poor kid was trying to get out, but the puke kept coming and the child locks were on. Not a good combination. I managed to get both kids out of the car, and had Drew run to the front door to motion for Dan. He came out to find the disaster and ushered the boys into the lobby. After lots of cleaning, and gagging - the truck got cleaned out and we got the kids in bed. Not the end to the day we were hoping for. Thankfully it was only a fluke puke, and nothing more was upchucked!

As you can imagine the truck reeked the next morning. We febreezed it, deodorized it and then added air fresheners - but nothing seemed to take the ank out of the stank! It was horrible. Thankfully we had a short 6 hr drive that last day. Needless to say we were all thrilled to get there, and get out of that truck!

Follow up - Aunt Mona gave us a wonderful organic cleaner that took the smell out of the truck! I can't even begin to tell you how thankful we were for her recommendation!
